Myopia Management

Myopia Management for kids

Myopia (or nearsightedness) is a very common condition where objects that are close to you are clear, however, objects far away are blurry. This is caused by elongation of the eye.

Researchers believe that the today’s environment and lifestyle is contributing to the rapid increase in childhood myopia. Contributing factors include lack of outdoor play in addition to too many up close activities (like reading or screen device usage). While glasses or contact lenses compensate for a child’s blurry distance vision, they do not stop your child’s vision from further deterioration. There is plenty of scientific evidence showing myopic patients being more vulnerable to sight-threatening diseases and complications including retinal detachments, myopic maculopathy, glaucoma and cataracts.
